A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.
